Lawrence Lady Boss | ASHLEY MCDONALD

Meet Ashley McDonald, the owner of GLO.BOWL. Ashley designs and builds hand-poured cement planters, which differ in size, shape, and are finished with her signature marbled look. Her love for bright colors and plants fuels the creations she puts out from her home studio in Lawrence.

What is your goal for the next year?

I would like to build upon and expand my current product line, network with local shops, and increase in-person workshops for 2021.

Who has influenced you the most?

I am influenced most by nature. Connecting with other small businesses and artists is key, however, to my growth over the last several years.

What one piece of advice do you give to other business owners?

One piece of advice is to be YOU. My work is absolutely a reflection of my style and energy, and I truly hope that each piece I create reflects that.

When you are not working, what are you doing?

I'm a busy-body so when I'm not slinging plants + pots at events, I'm tinkering in the garage or on my way over to see the fam and plotting our next food run.

What Lawrence hidden gem do you recommend everyone checks out?

My absolute favorite place to eat in Lawrence is Thai Siam and while I think it is pretty well known, if you haven't been there, consider it my favorite hidden gem.

If you could change one thing about your business, what would you change?

I change my business constantly. The benefit of being a one-woman show is not having to ask someone else before I make changes. This, also, is one of my biggest challenges.
