Lawrence Lady Boss | LARA THOMPSON COUNTESS

 LADY BOSS PROFILE

Meet Lara Thompson Countess, the owner of Sensora Spa. Sensora Spa is a day spa specializing in skincare, waxing, body treatments and massage therapy. They opened in August of 2014 and have built a reputation for superior customer satisfaction. "We created Sensora to give people a retreat away from the outside world; somewhere they can leave all their worries at the door and completely relax, refresh and revive."

What is your goal for the next year?

Last year we acquired space to expand our business. However, since the pandemic hit, our priorities have changed. Now we are solely focused on making sure clients feel safe and comfortable receiving personal services in today’s climate.

Who has influenced you the most?

My family has influenced me the most. My dad proved that you can get anywhere in life with shear determination, hard work and gumption. Being the youngest of four and the only girl my dad wanted to make sure that I had the independence to succeed and the toughness to take on anything that was thrown my way.

What one piece of advice do you give to other business owners?

One piece of advice I think is important to give is that integrity means everything. We have learned a lot this year and standing by your principles and being honest is the most important thing we can take away.

When you are not working, what are you doing?

When I’m not working I am with my two young boys (6&3), my husband and my parents (and brother who lives here). We are a super tight family but I only FaceTime my brother in England 5 times a day.

What Lawrence hidden gem do you recommend everyone checks out?

Lavish Whisk is one of my favourite places to order from in Lawrence. She makes the most beautiful cakes and is truly an artist. I recommend her to everyone.

If you could change one thing about your business, what would you change?

If I could change one thing about my business I think I would change our location. We are hidden in the Hillcrest Professional Building which has great parking (something I wasn’t used to being downtown pre Sensora) but I miss the feel of being on a heavy foot trafficked street.
