Meet Jessica Grimes Mooneyham, the owner of

AR Workshop Lawrence

. AR Workshop® is a boutique DIY studio that offers hands-on classes for creating custom, charming home decor from raw materials. Join an instructor-led workshop where you can make custom wood plank signs, framed signs, canvas pillows, round signs, lazy susans, centerpiece boxes, canvas tote bags, and more! AR Workshop® will help you take your home decor to the next level and have fun while creating it!

What is your goal for the next year?

My goal for next year is to continue to work ON my business and not IN it. I’ve been SO fortunate to have an amazing staff who continues to step up and take on tasks that have allowed me to focus on marketing, new customers and community relations.

Who has influenced you the most?

My dad…he is the hardest worker I’ve ever known. My whole life I’ve been watching his work ethic whether it was his career or a project in the garage. Everything he does, he does with PRIDE and to the best of his ability. I’ve always watched how he starts EVERY single thing he finishes and doesn’t stop until it’s done to the best of his ability. Nothing is left undone….From him I’ve learned to finish what I start and not stop until it’s something I can be proud of.

What one piece of advice do you give to other business owners?

Support each other and collaborate as much as you can. There are so many small businesses here who just need to think outside the box in ways they can work together in small ways to make BIG things happen.

When you are not working, what are you doing?

We are a baseball family through and through. We are either at practice or a ball game almost every night during the week and at the pool nearly every day.

What Lawrence hidden gem do you recommend everyone checks out?

Just one? That’s so hard, but I would say Java Break. I would give anything to be able to sit there sipping coffee after coffee busting out a full day of work right now.

If you could change one thing about your business, what would you change?

I don’t know that I would change anything. I mean that wholeheartedly. I am very lucky to be one of 150+ ARW female franchise owners who have invested in their dreams and EVERY SINGLE day I learn from them and am able to share ideas with them. The ARWorkshop franchise was able to change their business model overnight when COVID hit and the support I have gotten from our corporate team has allowed me to continue to grow my business and help our community CREATE & CONNECT even in the toughest of times.

Jessica adds, "We need to continue to support our small business and female-owned businesses in any way we can. If we can’t shop, then Like, Share & Comment on their posts. Our small business owners are the most hard-working, creative and passionate people our community has. We have all gone ALL IN on our dreams, often sacrificing time with our own families, to create places for you and your families to enjoy!"
